Potential User Flow
Users normally abandon the cart due to so many comparisons, they get distracted and start exploring again, and get tired of it and abandon the process. Imagining the same scenario in a shopping mall, if you have kept a product in the cart by taking a good look to it and then while billing someone keeps telling you to explore more and more.
Other problems such as confusing UI lead to the cart abandonment.

Deconstructing Current Design

Issues in Older Design

New UI Screens
Cart Screen
The cart should open as a parallel screen/ an extension to current UI.
The users also gets confused on which screen it is on as there is no indication
Option for gifting can contribute to the user buying it for someone else.
Many people tend to buy products much easier for others instead of themselves.

Conclusion
I conducted user interviews for the present UI and arrived with problems such as people saving items in the save for later lists and never buying them.
Many users also lost interest in buying as they lose the feel while they are in the cart screen because the product is not well-visible to them. Animations or video might be helpful to keep the user looped in on what they are planning to buy.
I believe that this can solve many issues with the cart and users abandoning carts.
